    Admissions are given in the last week of May and November.
    If space permits then new admissions are also given in the end of July and September.

    Residents from India :

    Students from parts of India, other than Pune, can study with the Iyengar Yoga teachers in their home town. Please refer to the link 'teachers in India' for a list of teachers.

    Those coming from regions where there are no teachers may be permitted to attend the beginners classes for a month. 

    The Institute does not provide lodging and boarding. Those attending these classes will not be given any certificates.

    Foreign Students :

    RIMYI welcomes Iyengar Yoga practitioners all over the world for general and ladies classes .
    Note : The classes are generally booked a year or two in advance.

    Pre-requisites:

  • The student should be practicing "Iyengar Yoga" for at least 8 years.
  • This should include regular practice of 'inverted postures" such as Sirsasana, Sarvangasana for 8-10 minutes.
  • All students should have read, the introductory chapter to "Light on Yoga" and be familiar with the terms and principles covered in that chapter.

  • We expect women to know what is to be practised during menstruation.

  • Applications and Admissions:

  • The Application Form can be downloaded. This is also available with the certified teachers or at National Associations.The form has to be endorsed by your teacher, before you submit.

    The completed application form with the letter from the teacher has to be sent to the Secretary, RIMYI. An acceptance letter and the schedule would be mailed to those who would be permitted to attend the classes.

    Admissions do not have to be reconfirmed. You will be notified in case of any changes. Students are allowed to attend a maximum of six classes per week for one month. The weekly schedule of classes would be provided to the student only on arrival.

  • Students will have to make their own arrangements for lodging and boarding.

    Note :
    * Right to admission is reserved.
    * Students will not be permitted to the classes if they do not present the acceptance letter when they arrive at the RIMYI.
